To receive all the benefits of being a Finale owner, be sure to complete the Registration Wizard. To access the Registration Wizard, click Register Now the first time you launch Finale 2006 (or, from the Help Menu, choose register Finale). You have the option of registering over the Internet, or by phone, fax, or mail. If you are upgrading from an earlier version of Finale, you are already a registered owner; your registration number (serial number) has not changed.
As a registered owner, you may contact MakeMusic for customer support whenever you need help with Finale and can’t find the answer in this book or the USER MANUAL. There is no charge for this help (although you may pay for long distance if you call). Our customer support representatives will ask for your serial number. Ron, composer www.RonaldJBrown.com

I can use Finale GPO as Administrator, but I keep getting a message saying that Finale GPO hasn't been registered, despite the fact that I've registered both Finale (with MakeMusic) and Finale GPO (using the NI Service Center referenced above). And when I log in as myself (not Administrator, which I prefer to keep separate), Finale doesn't find the GPO, or won't let me use it, or something like that. This is very frustrating.... | | Back to Top

We have 500 music students using 20 computeres, of cause by logging into their own account. If the problem mentioned above is persistant (I've had it since 2006), we'll seriously consider migrating to Sibelius. It seems that the developer team at MM never understood the multi user architecture on MacOSX, and we had many problems with that. And the students - what do you think their experience with Finale is like? Most of them don't want to continue with the program after their studies. | | Back to Top

The registration problem is with NI, not MakeMusic.
Blame them.
They have been anything but helpful with anyone who's had problems with registering the Kontakt player. NI has a "you got problems? well, screw you" attitude towards customers.
Thankfully, Garritan will be migrating to their own player in a future update. Finale versions: 3.0 -> 2008a currently installed: version 3.7.1 (under Win 3.11), 2006c, 2007c, 2008a Full GPO, Jazz and Big Band Win XP

Thankfully, Garritan will be migrating to their own player in a future update. That's not quite correct, Michel. I have only had registration trouble once when I couldn't load the Stradivari in K2, but I cannot recognize anything of what you say. They certainly did try to help me, although they didn't succeed until the next maintenance update. But they tried and you will always get a courteous and helpful response, if you file a support ticket as a legitimate user. And from what I have heard you will get even faster help, if you call them directly.
The problem with the Finale GPO/Garritan for Finale Kontakt Player is, that you are technically not a registered customer with NI. The player is licensed by MakeMusic/Garritan and they, as licensees, are responsible for the support. They just forget to inform their customers about that, thus creating a false belief, that it really is NI, that is responsible for the support. You don't have a license number for KP2 and without a license number you can't really expect NI to offer support. Otherwise they would soon be flooded with support requests from users of crackware, thus having less time for paying, legitimate customers.
In this case I'd say the monkey sits firmly on MM's shoulders. It is MM who has chosen the tight partnership with NI, that excludes everybody else and necessitates a player without a license number, so that it can't be used outside of Finale. If support is lacking, it has got to be from them.
And one other thing: what makes you so sure, that Aria will be pain free? I have never, ever heard of a new, complex software product without bugs and hassles. All this hype about Aria is full of wishful thinking, yet the actual software is still as elusive as the rainbow. Just one example of Garritan's announceware, that has a hard time at becoming realityware. Don't get me wrong. I really hope it will be as good as everybody says it will. But, I want to see it before I believe it. Nickie Katharina Fønshauge Finale 2007 - Kontakt 2 - GPO/JABB/Stradivari | | Back to Top

Try this:
(win) go into your FinaleVST folder and delete the Finale GPO.dll.
Here is the path:
c:\Program Files\Finale 2007\FinaleVST
(mac) go into your Components folder and delete the Finale GPO.component.
Here is the path:
Harddrive >> Library >> Audio >> Plug-Ins >> Components
This should solve the issue. | | Back to Top

Did a clean install of 2008a - no Garritan or Kontakt cheap non-working libraries or technologies.
