A number of people have tried, and your experience seems to be the norm.

This is the reason I didn't switch to Linux.

A slightly more complete answer, perhaps...

You must have functional sound/MIDI in Linux first. That said, on my Ubuntu boxen, Finale will "work" under Wine with many nay-nays. MIDI can be a problem. One box (with NotePad 2008) plays back thru MIDI using Timidity automatically. I have NO idea how you would get any results from something like the Kontakt Player. Currently, I find MIDI input won't work on one box and does on the other. I have not tried to find out why. AND, the piano brace is drawn big, angular, and just oh so wrong -- therefore, it is not usable for any of my real work.

A long time ago (maybe Finale 2001, maybe 97?) I ran an excellently functioning system using Codeweaver's commercial Wine app and (probably) Mandrake. But that was long ago.

Finale is basically the ONLY reason I use Windows. The suits would be oh so happy if I just used a Mac, but I really can't make them work. (Intuitive interface, my ass: well, my problem.)

"Finale isn't supported on Linux" means no one in customer support will attempt to answer a question. It does not mean you can't do it. But you will be doing it all by your lonely little self... :-)

Currently using FinWin 2006, 2007 & 2008 almost daily
Previously used everything back to version 2.0.1

James231, the following two references may be helpful to you : Running Finale on Linux and Run Finale 2007 on Linux with Wine.
