It doesn't matter if I'm using MIDI or VST for playback. I've reported one specific crash that happens 100% of the time to tech support but I'm forced to remove 2010a and reinstall the shipping version because I have way too much I have to get done today. Those of you that use Speedy w/a MIDI keyboard might want to wait for 2010b to install a patch. Fred | | Back to Top

are you also a Speedy Entry user? Finale versions: 3.0 -> 2010 currently installed: 2006c, 2007c, 2008a, 2009, 2010 Full GPO, Garritan Jazz & Big Band, Stradivari Violin, Gofriller Cello, Garritan Concert and Marching Band Win XP

The file that was crashing 100% of the time in 2010a when I tried to use Speedy Entry is working fine in 2010. I have no idea if this was a file-specific problem but I've sent it to tech support. I'm not experiencing any crashes at all with the shipping version. Fred | | Back to Top

With the ASIO drivers selected 2010 would crash every time I tried to input a note using Speedy w/a MIDI keyboard. Switching to DirectSound fixed the problem. Unfortunately 2010a crashes no matter what I have selected for my audio drivers. Bummer. Fred | | Back to Top

In 2010a if I set MIDI Thru to Off, the program crashes as soon as I try to input a note using a MIDI keyboard in Speedy. Can anyone else reproduce this? It works fine in the shipping version of 2010. Fred | | Back to Top

I'm getting the "we can't reproduce it here" response right now. It looks like you're on XP. I've gotten this bug w/Vista and Win7 but hadn't tried it w/XP. It's 100% reproducible for me. As soon as I turn MIDI Thru off, 2010a will crash when using a MIDI keyboard w/Speedy. I've uninstalled it and am back using 2010 for now. Fred | | Back to Top

I checked your other thread and I too had problems with notes getting "stuck" while inputting with MIDI Thru on in 2010a, that was one of the reasons I wanted it off. (I usually turn it off anyway and just use my keyboard sound while inputting.) I'm not having any problems with the shipping version of 2010 though. You can deauthorize, uninstall 2010a, and reinstall 2010 if you want to rather than go back to 2009. Best, Fred | | Back to Top

Notes will "sustain" for a long time after I've released them on the piano keyboard, and thus Finale will input them when I hit numeral keys on the PC keyboard in speedy entry (as if I were playing them, but I am not). The only way I can get it to stop this is to click off of any measures in the piece, so that no measure is selected; this stops the sustain. I then can re-click the measure I have been working on to get back to work. While this is simple enough, it is frustrating, and happens about every other measure... so time consuming!! Just like others, these issues did not occur until I installed the 2010a upgrade.
I have submitted a support case, so hopefully this issue will be resolved soon.
Thanks everyone!
