Hi all

If I have three Quarternote-Triplets, how can I write two eight-notes that are beamed together on the second (middle) Quarternote Triplet? If I try to write this, I only can write two single eight-notes in the middle, that are standing alone. I would like to have them beamed together. I use Finale 2009.
Thanks in advance and regards, Stefano

If I understand you correctly, in Simple entry, select the second quarter note and press /. This also works if you have two beamed notes and do not want them beamed.
Tom

Oops. Yes I did mean eighth note - thanks Ian

Hi Tom, thanks for your reply. The / adds a tie to the eightnotes, but I want to write the two eightnotes grouped together with a beam. It should look like simple eightnotes that are beamed together, for example as they look like on a binary rhythm on 1 and 1+. I just can write the two eightnotes as single notes with flags. Hope you understand what I mean. You can see this type of writing in rhythm-solfege books like agostini etc.

Well, Tom's method is the standard one for an individual beam, and it works for me in Simple and Speedy. (Though I think he meant to say select the second eighth note.) Have you reallocated the / sign in some way?
