Other than creating 2 staves throughout the entire song (one for the main part and one for the solo) is there any way to introduce the extra stave for the solo section only in the part where the solo exists? I've tried putting both parts on the same staff, but the parts "cross", making it hard to follow. By the way, I'm using PrintMusic.
thanks. | | Back to Top | |

Thje good news: after that, enter the notes in the measures needed, then go to page layout and optimize the score. If PrintMusic doesn't allow that all at once, select Allow Individual Staff Spacing on a system by system basis, then, in the Staff Tool. A new lower handle appears on each staff. Select that and press delete to hide the staff for that system only. That way, only the systems where you need the extra staff will show it.

If so, using the Staff Tool in Scroll View, double click where you want the staff, then respace the staves.

In page view, it's the last line (3 measures) that I need to add the second staff to. I can see the staff in scroll view, but it has been hidden in page view. I need to see it in page view again. | | Back to Top | |

If it's gone because the page was optimized, then you just remove optimization for that page.

Those instructions are for Finale. If you're using something else, the instructions may be different.
