My 1st Finale score is almost ready to print. I've gone through all the parts and moved things around and they look very good. The only problem is a lot of passages get split onto different lines( for instance a 2 measure phrase starts on the last measure of one line and continues all the way to left and down a line). They are still readable but not perfect. Is there a solution for this?
Also, I can make pdf files for all the parts and score but is there a way to make all the parts appear in one pdf file?

Then there is one other problem that comes up: one page of the score (and it's a different page every time) turns from landscape to portrait and everything is much bigger. I fix it be redefining the pages but I don't know why this is happening.

And then while I have your attention: I am unable to use the keys to switch articulations and dynamics. The numbers don't have any effect on the selection.

Thanks for your help and my apologies for not posting separate posts.

By "keys" I think you mean the metatool key shortcuts.

I get them to work by double tapping the metatool shortcut key.

Also you have to have selected the articulation or dynamic (clicking its box)
before you tap.

You can use Fit Measures, or do it manually with the Mass Edit Tool to put measures where you want them.

Thanks, Fit MEasures works great. Still no luck with the metatool shortcuts. I can use the arrows to select but the number keys don't have an effect. Even with double tapping.
Thanks,

Select a measure. Press the down arrow to move it onto the next system, or the Up arrow to move it up.

Preview can merge PDF documents from Leopard onwards. Drag your PDF file into the thumbnail side bar. (In Snow Leopard, you have to be a bit more precise, as multiple documents can exist in the same sidebar.)

Probably your Page Format is incorrectly set, so new pages are created to a different size.

Preview is a fantastic tool for merging PDFs. A band arrangement with score and parts (about 20 multi-page PFDs) takes a minute, maybe two, to save to PDFs and manually merge into one file. Not that easy at all on the planet Windows.

Umm... Adobe Acrobat can merge my .pdfs quite easily in just a few seconds, thanks.

Acrobat works but I think there's a problem with intel macs or something ion newer mac os that makes saving pdfs not work. With Acrobat I get everything perfect but it won't save as a pdf.

It doesn't take me much longer than that to do it with PDF Creator. And it lets me do a lot of other things, too. And it's free! (Yes, I know Preview is free, too. But you have to buy a Mac, which I won't do.)

It's the 2nd time you said "number keys".
The metakey is the number or letter in the upper right of each articulation, not the number on the upper left.
For the Articulation tool, you hold down the metakey and click the notehead itself.
If you want to switch articulations from a pre-existing one, you click it, so it's selected, and tap the metakey.

Try an articulation you already have, select it by clicking its box so it's black, and tap number 1. It should be FFFF.
Try all the numbers and it goes from FFFF to PPPP.

Does that work?

That totally works. It's evident I made some assumptions about the keys. I wasn't able to change the dynamics as you describe but I'm sure I'll figure it out. Thanks so much.

Full Acrobat (as opposed to Reader) does not have a problem with Intel Macs. You have never been able to use "Save As PDF" in the print dialog from Adobe PDF Applications!

You should use Save from the File menu, not from the print dialog.

If you are trying to save the output of Adobe's booklet making feature in the print menu, as a new PDF, then you can't do that (easily).
Instead, you need to use one of the many thousand ways that I have previously suggested for making booklet PDFs.

I make booklet PDFs of every single one of my Finale documents. Automatically.
