When I go into any band music selection, I'm unable to hear the band accompaniment music. I can hear the individual parts, however. I have been able to hear the accompaniment before. It doesn't appear to be a problem with the accompaniment volume, since, for all other music (solos, etc.) I'm able to hear the accompaniment. I've tried getting out and back in to SmartMusic, but that doesn't solve the problem. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

mserber,

If you can hear solos but not band pieces, this means that the network or security programs you are using is allowing MIDI files through, but blocking MP3 files.  This is very common on school networks.  If you are on a school network, please view the article below and send it to your IT people.  This article will give them the info they need to configure the network to trust SmartMusic.

mserber,

Have you recently restarted your computer?  If not, restart the machine, then try opening a band piece you have never opened before.

Does the error still persist?  If so, what is the OS of the machine?

Thanks,

Hi, Travis.

Thanks for your responses. I'll reply to both of them here.

I'm not on a school network, so I don't think I'm blocked from using MP3 files.
I tried restarting my machine have the same issue. This problem happened a couple of months ago, also. I tried restarting my machine then and this seemed to resolve the problem. It didn't work this time, though.

I'm using an iMAC, but I have Fusion to allow me to also use Windows XP and that is where I'm using SmartMusic.

mserber,

SmartMusic is not currently supported on VMWare Fusion or similar emulated operating systems. This means that aspects of the program may indeed work, but for those that do not, we do not have any troubleshooting steps in that emulated OS. We do not test our programs running under an emulated OS in our development process.

I would recommend using SmartMusic on the native Mac OS of your machine. If you are having problems with SM on Mac, let us know what they are and we will try to troubleshoot the issue.

Thanks,
