I recently downloaded and installed Finale Notepad, and I have a problem involving percussion, simply that the sounds are not correct.

When I select "snare drum" for example, I get not the sound of a snare drum, but the sound of a whistle, and when I select "drum set", I get a whistle on the centre line of the stave, and I forget what the others are, but they aren't the simple bass drum/snare/toms you would usually find on the stave. I can find some toms way down in the lower register, but obviously, this is no use.

When I looked at istruments.txt, I found no patch assigned to the drum set (which is my main concern at the moment) Is this the problem?

All help in sorting this out is very much appreciated, you may just help me gain a music GCSE :-)

Thanks, Chris.

p.s, I hope I posted this in the right place/asked the right people.

I think this is one of those things NotePad can't do. You'll probably have to upgrade to a higher version of Finale to do this. I think even PrintMusic! can do this, but check out the comparison chart Coda has on the site.
