Finale still fails to observe standard notational practice for all fretted notes on the short 5th string of the instrument. The fifth string on the banjo starts at the 5th fret on the neck and it's standard practice to number the frets on that string 0 (open), 6, 7, 8 etc. That way the 6th fret is called "6" for all five strings rather than call it fret 6 on strings 1-4, but call it fret 1 for the fifth string. Finale 2009 still gets this wrong. What really irks me is that I've reported this problem repeatedly, since before 2000, and it's never been fixed. It wouldn't be that hard to do, but clearly, makemusic couldn't care less about it's customers. | Back to Top | |

I use work arounds too, but considering how long MakeMusic has been aware of the problem we shouldn't have to do that. As a customer who bought Finale 1.0 plus many updates I'm peeved by the message communicated by MakeMusic's decision to not bother to make an advertised feature work right. | Back to Top | | Forum Information | Currently it is Tuesday, December 19, 2023 7:45 PM (GMT -6) There are a total of 403,820 posts in 58,165 threads.
