- I created the test account under Customer Service steps. - DIDN'T HELP.
- I created a new 'location' in Network Preferences and deleted all connections except Wi-Fi. Changed the service order with Wi-Fi on top. Rebooted and Reopened Finale' with hope. - AUTHORIZATION DOESN'T STICK.
- I changed the Service Order preferences for the "Automatic" location. - DIDN'T HELP EITHER.
- Tried reinstalling Finale' MULTIPLE times.
- Tried closing all apps with activity monitor. All user apps except one that is unclosable were closed. - DIDN'T WORK
I've even got an active email conversation going with Customer Service.
PLEASE HELP ME! This is driving me insane. My information is already filled out when launching Finale', so all I have to do is hit the enter key multiple times, but I can't keep having to deal with this. I don't have time to fool with it every time I practice or copy parts.
All responses are highly appreciated.
Here's what you can try to fix Finale':
First you need to make Finder show HIDDEN FILES:
If running 10.9 (Mavericks), follow these steps...
1.) Search for Terminal in Spotlight 2.) Run this command:
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE
3.) Run this command:
killall Finder
4.) Reopen Finder if needed (if it doesn't open)
5.) Follow Steps Below...
If running 10.7 or 10.8:
1.) Do step 1 as above. 2.) Run this command. Note the capitalization is different than the command above:
defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE
"Finder" is capitalized.
3.) Run steps 3, 4, and 5 as above.
------------
Now to the Finder steps:
1.) Quit ALL instances of Finale', Print Music, etc. 2.) open Finder 3.) Navigate to HDD, Library, Application Support 4.) If you've completed the steps above as indicated, you can now see hidden files. DELETE all files that start with "reg" or "REG" (i.g. reg12.txt) 5.) If it makes you feel better, empty the "trash". 6.) Reopen Finale' and reauthorize 7.) Save Files and Quit ALL instances of Finale'. You will see that a new "reg##.txt" file has been generated. (It won't be the actual 'pound' symbols. It'll more than likely be a number)... 8.) Reopen Finale' and see if it 'sticks'... 9.) Reboot or do anything you can (that you did before) to see if Finale' crashes, etc... 10.) If it DOES NOT stick, retry these steps and go from there.
I tested this with Mavericks (10.9) and Finale' 2014, but you can try it with any OS/Finale' I guess. Oh my! Glad I had help in solving it!
If you can't see hidden files, then you may try downloading the "SECRETS" preference pane. If you do that, you won't need to fool with commands. It made it easier for me, but you know, do whatever.
This tutorial was written because one of the posts helped me, so I did this to try and help you. Please don't pirate software. Buy Finale'. Use Finale'. Have fun composing music.

It needs to be reauthorized everytime I open it.
Please help. | Back to Top | |

If they ban or turn against speaking about a problem to get help, then that's even more reason to switch to Sibelius.
Thank you very much for your responses.
Do you know of any way to fix this issue? | Back to Top | |

MM will be more than happy to help you work through the problem, but they are not keen on the forum discussing methods that might be seen as reverse engineering or circumventing. That's what I meant.
Did you try deleting those file I mentioned?
It's weird that it authorises, but then presumably deauthorises every time. Normally, you can only have two computers authorised, and sometimes the same computer can "use up" the 2 authorisations if the hardware seems to change. The only other things I can suggest are: run a repair on your hard drive (NB: Repair disk, not permissions**). Boot to the recovery partition or other system disk and run Disk Utility. Also, create a brand new admin user account, and see if you can authorise Finale successfully from there.
** Well, you could try repairing permissions as well. It doesn't do anything for third-party software, but anecdotally it fixes random things. "This is me helping."
