Using Finale 2014 running under Yosemite. I am writing a staged musical and want to use multiple staves, one for each character that has a singing part. This same requirement would really apply to any choral work. The first staff in my file has all the notes and lyrics for the song. Now I need to divide up these lyrics, and parts, over five staves. But the lyric tool is set to include all lyrics in the lyric window. These causes a mess when wanting to distribute lyrics across multiple staves. I don't believe Finale can do this without some kind of workaround. Anyone been able to solve this problem? Would appreciate some help. Thanks, Meg

I would put each staff in a different verse. Once you've adjusted the baselines, it's pretty simple.

Simple Entry, QWERTY keyboard, numberpad. That's my system, and I'm stickin' to it.

Thanks, Mike. That's what I wound up doing but there should be a more elegant way to name each of the staves/parts so someone writing ensemble vocal music would be able to identify easily what lyrics are being written for what part. Again, I do appreciate your help.

If you go from top to bottom, it's not hard to keep track. 1=soprano, 2=alto, etc.
