I'm trying to do some complex beaming in some piano music with Finale 2002b
I have included a finale file of my attempts to do so.
I've entered some notes on the staff with the treble clef, to extend the beam across the bar line, I've entered more notes than the measure can nominally hold (time signature wise). I've place some hidden rests in the next measure as place holders for the extra notes.
I've used the beam break command of Speedy entry to beam together two sets of sixteenth note sextuplets.
I've used the note mover tool to move a few notes down to the staff with the bass clef.
I've used the Double/Split Stem Tool(see the Window menu and select "Special tools palette to see the tool button) to split the stems of every other note.
I've used the Beam Stem Adjust tool to place the end point of the upward stems inside the note heads of each respective note, so as to hide the upward split stems.
I've use the Beam Extension Tool to align the orphaned end of the beam with the first remaining upward stem.
I've used the Beam Angle Tool to adjust the beam angle of the upper set of beams.
Unfortunately, the beam angle tool doesn't allow me to do similarly for the lower primary beam.
Later on in the piece, where the same thing happens, except for the extra notes in the measure, I'm able to manipulate both of the lower beams.
Anyone have any ideas?

John,
I have no idea why the Beam Angle Tool doesn't allow you to adjust the beam angle for the lower primary beam in measure 1.
However, I was able to solve your problem by establishing the cross-staff notation in a simpler way. See the attached file. This is how I did it:
1. put the left hand notes in staff 2,
2. hid all the 16th rests,
3. used the Note Mover Tool to drag the g and the a down into staff 2, and to drag the c sharp and the e flat up into staff 1,
4. adjusted the beam angle and stem length with the Beam Angle Tool,
5. used the Beam Extension Tool to extend the secondary beam (only the 16th beam!) inside the beam group.
Peter
PS I notated the c and the c sharp in staff 1, not in staff 2 as you did. I did that because you everywhere else notate the 'c' scale degree in staff 1. Must be the easiest for the performer to read.

Thanks! It's always nice to see an alternate approach!
