Hi.
Hope someone can help:
I have always been used to hit the key for big letters AND the "=" to make a tie.
In my new FINALE-verion this does´t work.
Has the feature been moved?
Hope to get some help.
Thankyou!
JAT

Are you using Speedy Entry?

According to the shortcuts shown for each command in the Speedy Entry menu, ties are creates with = or Alt and =. So not Shift, but Alt (sometimes called Opt or Option).

I doubt this has changed from previous versions.

Hallo, Dr. Wiggy.
Thankyou.
I am using Speedy Entry, and ties were always created using the key for big letters AND the "=".
Does not work anymore, so I will have to go use the "Smart shape tool" and create the ties later. Which is slower unfortunately.
Maybe I did not understand you well? I did what You described, but it does not seem to work at my Mac.
Thank you anyway :-)

Smart Shape Tool creates SLURS not TIES.

What shortcuts do you see in the Speedy Entry menu for Ties? Look at the picture. The symbol next to = is for Alt key. Have you tried using Alt? What symbol do you have in that place?
The "Key for big letters" is called SHIFT.
What language do you use for your keyboard layout?

Hallo, again.
I know that Smart Shape Tool makes Slurs :-)
I was using it because I needed something that LOOKED like ties.
Thank you for the screenshot. I am looking at the same thing. The language is english as well.
But it still does not work.
Can something be the matter with FINALE?
(Or am I the one to blame?)

So, to recap:

1. You see exactly the same symbols.
2. Pressing Alt and = does not work. What about = by itself? What about all the other shortcuts that use the same key?

What language does your KEYBOARD use?
You will find this in the top right of the Mac menu bar: there should be a flag. Or in System Preferences > Keyboard > Input Sources.

Hi, again.
Thank you for not letting me down :-)
I have used "=" itself. That was what have always worked, but it does not work now!
My keyboard is Danish, but as I described, then it has worked until now. Simply using "="

1. Try a restart.
2. Make sure you're not running any keyboard third-party utilities.
3. Reset your Finale Preferences (button in Preferences dialog).
4. Contact MakeMusic.

25 has a few issues with non-English language keyboards.

My daughter's Danish language Mac is on OS 10.6 so I can't install 25 on it to see what is going on. She went to university in Copenhagen and keeps it to practice the language.
