Greetings friends,

I am considering upgrading from 2014 to 2014.5. I am running Yosemite on my MacBook Pro. I am very cautious with upgrades these days as I had serious problems when I upgraded to Yosemite while running Finale 2012 (I lost several days work and was forced to upgrade to Finale 2014). I'm currently in the middle of a large project and cannot afford to loose time addressing software problems. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

There are a number of threads on this if you look last fall when 2014.5 was introduced—no need to rewrite it all. It solved many problems for most of us. The one thing to know is that it installs alongside of 2014 and doesn't replace it—this can be confusing if you don't know in advance.

Best not to do a major update like that during a large project under a deadline. It doesn't overwrite 2014, however.

Writing only for myself, I deleted 2014 about an hour or so after installing 2014.5. Deleted 2011 a couple of hours later and never thought twice about either move.

YMMV

Thanks, Mike. That's just what I need (where to look). I do think I'll wait until after this project is finished. 2014 runs pretty well for the most part though there are a few annoying glitches.

(Unfortunately) there is no "game-changer" in 2014.5 that should force you to update.
If your 2014 runs smooth - go with that, until finished.

Also for me, smooth sailing with 2014.5 - installed it and basically never looked back...
- for me it has been one of the better updates since YEARS! (...although, we ALL seem to have different views on that matter).
