Finally! A Decent Font menu, with fonts grouped into typeface families!

Fixed several gripes: -- unable to edit a text box in Shape Designer; hang when moving measures over page boundaries; and a few other things.

And keystrokes to copy expressions to adjacent staves! Nice.

Interestingly: all files have Data Check run on them before opening. Perhaps this will solve a lot of problems?

Thanks, Justin.
We've been waiting for this!
My gripe was the Tool set glitch.

Hope all the little bugs are gone!

I don't see a big fix for selecting repitch from the tools menu. Did this slip by?

That should be fixed, I checked the issue report for it and it had been closed (resolved). I cannot reproduce it in 2011a as I could in 2011 release.

If the problem persists for you, definitely let me know.

It's always like this during US daytime on the first day of release. MM's servers have only so much bandwidth.

One of the nicest things is that the popping after closing Finale is completely gone now.

I just downloaded the new update(6 hours with DSL), but this update did not recognize my Finale 2011. After 20 years of having Finale this is the first time I received this type of error message =" Finale 2011 (update) cannot be installed on this computer". I even tried to launch the update from within the Finale 2011 Folder. It still did not recognize it. HELP!

If the composer says in effect to the performer: "I do not care whether you perform my music or not," we cannot argue the matter. But if he indicates: "I want you to perform and respond to this music," then his fundamental duty is to write his music so that it is accessible to interpretation. When the performer cannot approach the composer's meaning because of capriciously obscure notation, he may in effect say to the composer: "Why should I bother to puzzle out your music?" - Gardner Read

After an incredibly long download, it would appear that the repitch bug is fixed. Nice. Now I just need a slow period to make the switch in between projects.

When I installed, the installer selected my external drive first. I had to point it at my system disk first. Have you done this? Is your system customised or unusual in any way?
Try moving the installer onto the same disk (out of its disk image)? (I don't know if that's a good idea or not, as there may be support files hidden on the image.)

Otherwise, contact MM.

As for download speeds: it takes two to tango. You can request the data very fast; but all the requests sent to MM will max out their servers, so you will only get a card dealt to you quite infrequently.

When I try to down load the new update from the Finale 2011 pull-down from the App, it says that I have the latest Finale update. My "about Finale" is Finale 2011.r2 for Macintosh. There is no acknowledgment of a Finale 2011a.
As I said earlier I downloaded the new update from a notice send to me. After 6 hours to download it could not find the already installed Finale 2011 on my Hard Drive. HELP!!

C'mon Mike...

I was on my laptop when I saw the 2011a release post, and I was curious. Plus, I would rather hear it from the horse's mouth than tinker around and see if it does or doesn't happen. Nice to get official confirmation of a bug fix.

Anyway, I'm much more inclined to keep using 2010 because moving up to 2011 requires reprogramming and debugging a ton of QuicKeys. Not to mention, that the cautionary accidental plugin now moves slow as molasses.

On both my desktop and laptop, I had strangeness on first launch...no setup wizard, no window prompting me to Authorize Finale. (I installed 2011 from the DVD and immediately installed the 2011a update). On the second launch, both things showed up and its been fine since.

I have to say, I'm liking what I'm seeing so far. Things I didn't think would make a difference are actually impressive and pleasing, like the new subdued default colors, backgrounds, textures, and the font updates.

The huge list of bug fixes confirms my feeling to wait until the "a" release...but I'm looking forward to using this now.
