How do you make those measure numbers you neither wish to see, nor print, invisible on the file? Hitting the delete key no longer gets rid of the number in 2008, as it did in 2007.

I have 2008, and when i select a measure number with the measure tool and hit the delete key, the handle is still visible, the number is ghosted on screen (like when notes are hidden, but View>Show>Hidden Notes and Rests is checked), but it doesn't print. Do you want all of your numbers to disappear, or just some? If its all of them, uncheck measure numbers in the staff attributes for that staff, and if they are still there, its because Measure>Edit Measure Number Regions>Always Show on Top Staff is checked.

if you really want to get them out of your hair click the measure tool, In the measure menu select "edit measure number regions and click on the "delete button." There are other options in this the "edit measure number regions" window that are helpful as well.

I remove measure numbers in the small music tiff files I create for our hymnal. If you save the file with deleted measure numbers as a template you can open it each time you wish to create a numberless score.

I figured it out: the Hidden Object Shading preference is linked to the Show Colors preference. I had the latter turned off, which disallowed the function of the former.
