I only need audio, it won't be played by anyone, so I just composed it on a grand staff, and set the instrument to the Garritan "Full Strings KS". The sound is great, but I cannot seem to get dynamics to work at all. Pianissimo sounds just the same as fortissimo, and of course hairpins don't work either. In addition, the first two quarter notes of each measure are blending together (the first one is held over into the second). This happens with or without a slur, though it does not happen if I put a staccato on the second note. Thoughts?
EDIT-- to test, I tried creating a new document, with the Garritan String Orchestra ensemble. Everything is working correctly in this document. So it seems the issue lies with me changing a piano staff to a Garritan instrument. Thoughts as to how I can make it play correctly in the original document? I'd rather not have to write the whole thing out in a score when all I need is an audio file. | Back to Top | |

So if you have strings, try just renaming the grand-staff to "violin".
That should get HP to recognize dynamics, hairpins, and articulations. That was it! How odd. Thanks very much for the help!
Since different instruments deal with score markings differently, HumanPlayback needed to know what type of instrument a staff was supposed to be to treat markings correctly.
All the string instruments have their keyswitches for mute, pizzicato, legato, marcato, etc.. at the same place. But notice that "mute" is a keyswitch that would be shared by brass instruments. Since brass instruments have a completely different set of keyswitches (for example they don't have pizzicato, or up/down bow), those keyswitches are at different places than for strings.
if HumanPlayback doesn't know whether an instrument is a string or a brass it doesn't know which keyswitch to apply.
VoilĂ , simple explanation of how HumanPlayback worked prior to Finale 2012. Finale (started with ver. 3.0) now using 2012 under Windows 8.1 basically ALL Garritan libraries, plus XSample Chamber Ensemble.
