I just received my Smart Music package yesterday, and am having difficulty with the porgram. It constantly stops working while I am playing with the accompaniment and a message comes up saying that smart music can not keep up. I have went through the trouble shotting page and have changed the latency to 100 as recommended. I also do not have any other prgrams running while I using it. Here is my system info:

AMD Athlon(tm) XP 3000+
512MB RAM
Windows XP
Lots of hard drive space!
Realtek AC'97 Audio

Please let me know how I can make my smart music program run smoothly! Thank you!

One thing you can try is to go to the Start menu >> (Settings) >> Control Panel >> Sounds and Audio Devices >> Audio Tab. Under sound playback, click Advanced and then Performance. Change the Sample Rate Conversion Quality from Best to Good. Restart SmartMusic and see if it makes any difference. If that doesn't help, go ahead and contact MakeMusic directly by e-mail or phone.

Windows XP, all updates

i have a similar problem. the documentation says the latency defaults to 50 - its 266 on my pc. i change it to 100, click 'done', and everythings fine for about 20 seconds. then the playback stops. checking the latency again, its back up to 266. drop it to 100, click done, everythigns fine again. for 20 seconds... infinite loop - groundhog day - it wont stay fixed. version 8.4 running on a 3.0ghz cpu under win xp home. any idea how to make the latency value stick?

thanks
