I have a piece that has two layers in the bass cleff of the piano part.
The two layers have different rythms in them, 4 quarter notes in layer 3 and a whole note in layer 4.
The whole note in layer 4 and the first quartet note in layer three are the same note, and are notated one on top of the other.
I thought this was a failing in Notepad, but I can't seem to correct it in Allegro.

I hope to be able to attach a GIF file that shows the problem

In Finale, the solution would be: Options Menu > Document Settings > Music Spacing Options, under Avoid Collision Of..., check Unisons > OK. Then apply Music Spacing to the relevant measures.

Not sure if the same commands apply to Allegro.

I don't have the "Music Spacing Options" Menu Item in the Document Settings menu. There are only 6 Menu Items:

Document Options...
Layer Options...
Page Format for Parts...
Page Format for Score...
Set Pickups...
Web Page Options...

My guess would be that this means you'll have to manually tweak the spacing of the notes yourself.

Don't feel bad, we often have to do this in Finale, too.

;-(

Cheers.

I can't seem to find how to move notes manually in the help file.

This is getting frustrating.

In Finale, one would use Special Tools Tool > Note Position Tool. Does that exist in Allegro?

PS You're finding a Coda product frustrating? I am shocked.

No, the Special Tools Menu does not exist.

Hmm. Unfortunately, most people around here (including me) use Finale, and don't have access to an Allegro manual. I think you'd be better off e-mailing your question to winsupport@codamusic.com

Nathan,

You can move notes in Speedy Entry by holding Shift (to constrain dragging) and double-click-hold on the notehead, then drag.

That is *if* you can deselect Automatic Music Spacing in Allegro.
