Dear Finale Developers,

I've been a Finale user on the Mac since 1988. I just saw the announcement for Finale 2010 and was disappointed (yet again) to see no evidence of two features that have been sorely lacking in recent upgrades of Finale.
One is a "retroactive" Time Signature plug-in similar to the now obsolete JW TimeSig, which stopped working on the Mac since 2003. For those of us who work extensively with unmetered (or variable metered) chant notation (such as found in Orthodox Church chant, for example), the ability to enter the required number of notes and then retroactively assign the correct time signature would be an ENORMOUS time-saver.
The other desired feature would be a better Font menu/dialog box, one that would allow a keyboard shortcut to change to a specific font. I'm sure I'm not the only Mac user who has hundreds of fonts in my system, and regularly scrolling down to "Vremya" (Russian Times) at the bottom of the menu is not fun. If someone has figured out how to assign a keyboard shortcut or menu script to accomplish this, please let me know!

To conclude, I would like to earnestly encourage both the Finale Development Team and any independent plug-in developers to give serious consideration to these two features. Thank you.

You can skip to a font by typing its name in several of the font selection dialogs.

I use JW Time Signature with 2009a and it works fine. There may have been some versions where it didn't work, but no problems with 2009a, thank goodness. I notate lots of chant, like you do. I haven't checked it with 2010.
