I have tried something like this:

 

staff tool
  select staff 2
  menu item "edit staff attributes"
    button "edit" near "full staff name"
      menu item "edit/select all"
      type "Bass Drum"
      button "ok"
  button "ok"

 

but this does not work.

 

Also, am I correct in assuming there are no variables or conditional logic features in Finalescript?  Basically, its just a macro processor that cannot capture macros from a live session, you just have to write them manually?
