I hope I'm in the right forum for this.

I'm getting warnings when I try to activate my Band-in-A-Box.
I go to:
Plug-Ins/Scoring and Arranging/Band-in-box Harmonizing.
I choose the appropriate selections.  I then get a warning notice saying:
"No harmonies will be available.  Cannot find 'C:/Documents and settings/XXXX/Desktop/default.har'.  This file should be in the same folder with finale.exe."
I click "OK" and nothing happens.  Can someone suggest what I might do to prevent this from happening again?  I did a search and could notfind Finale.exe or a harmonies folder.

Much help deeply appreciated.

I don't think this is the right forum, and I don't think I have the ultimate answer, but I will tell you what I did to workaround this problem -- I just copied the Harmony.har file to my desktop (you'll find it in the same folder as Finale.exe).

All was then well (of course, I have this Harmony.har file sitting on my desktop, but I can live with it).

Thanks for the advice. I will certainly do that, but where the heck is Finale.exe? I can't find it. I even did a search via Windows XP.

Depends. of course, on how you installed it, but mine resides in Program Files/Finale2004a (even though I've upgraded to 2004b).

If you did a search you might have forgotten to "Search hidden and system files" since sometimes XP "protects" you from seeing Program file directories.

That's probably what happened. I will try again. You know there are times when XP drives me crazy.

Much thanks!
