I've just started reading the documentation on the PDK and the ETF file format, but it's quite a long task, and i haven't much time, so i'm asking here.
Basically, i need to know wether is possible or not to convert an ETF file into another format (similar to musicXML), given the documentation available for download....i mean, are the specs given with the pdk complete, or are any parts missing?
Keep in mind that i'm an information science student, not a professional. Also, the amount of time that i'm willing to invest in this project isn't unlimited: it would be my degree thesis, and i'm planning to graduate in 9-10 months. I'm not starting a work that would take longer than that.
Thanks in advance
P.S.
English isn't my native language, so please forgive errors or bad spelling . | Back to Top | |

The format i'm trying to work with is called MX. It's based on XML, and its purpose is to include in a single file all the information needed in order to treat any given musical excerpt. It's based on a sort of "timeline", wich is referred by multiple "layers" such as logical, audio, general, and such. It's currently under development, and i'm afraid i can't be more specific, because i've just started working on it...let's say i have a grasp on its basic structure and concepts, but i still have to learn the details.
Translation via MusicXML is not an option, unfortunately. I suppose that every translation unavoidably loses some details, and two in a row would result in an unacceptable loss (please correct me if i'm wrong).
By the way, is there a place where one can find the missing parts of the ETF specs, or at least some hints or clues? | Back to Top | | Forum Information | Currently it is Tuesday, December 19, 2023 8:19 PM (GMT -6) There are a total of 403,820 posts in 58,165 threads.
