I am currently using Finale 2011 & SmartMusic 2012 on a Mac. Used Finale for years, but just recently began using SmartMusic with our program. I am trying to create a file in Finale for assessment. Each time I export the file, Finale closes unexpectedly. Not sure what is causing the problem. Just curious if anyone else is having this problem or perhaps has a solution. Thanks for any help!

Not me, but can you trace the steps as to when it crashes. I use windows but maybe I can help.

Once I have the exercise in Finale, I click on the export to SmartMusic. It brings up the window to choose 1 of 3 options & I am picking "Assessment." Leave all the boxes checked for the instruments that I need files for. Once it starts exporting, it gets to 16%, freezes, and quits unexpectedly. Happens every time.

lets try the standards answers.

Have you rebooted the machine? check your anti virus software. scandisk if you have that too.

If that don't help, I'd call tach support

Hello,

long time ago, I had a similar problem. The solution was to set the audio output to MIDI, not Garritan or similar and speaker to 'SmartMusicSynthesizer'.

Please send the .MUS file to our Finale tech support folks for help at makemusic.custhelp.com/app/ask - they should be able to help identify the problem, if it's not what Herbert is suggesting.

Try downloading Finale 2012a for the 30 day free trial. See if that resolves the issue.
