Suddenly, my F12c does not have access to the help files. When I choose that option, I get an error message.
Finale cannot open this help topic because it cannot find the necessary file.
You must connect to the internet or reinstall Help Files from your Finale CD to use this feature.

I've reinstalled the program six times, and rebooted each time. I still get the error.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
By the way, I did check to make sure that the files were still on my computer. They are.

Sorry. I realized that I installed Finale on my D drive, but it was looking for the files on my C drive. Changed preferences, and no more problems.

When I try to access the user manual in finale I keep getting "Finale cannot open this help topic because it cannot find the necessary file. You must connect to the internet and reinstall help files from your finale cd to use this feature." I looked in preferences/folder and the use online manual when available was checked. It has always worked until today!!! And do you need to uninstall finale and then reinstall?

Something must have changed on your system or in your Finale setup to suddenly start giving you "can't find file..." messages. You didn't say what program or version you are using, but, generally, if you look in Preferences -> folders it will tell you where Finale thinks your help files are. If they are not there, then search for "finale.htm" on your system (which should be in a subfolder called "Help Files" under the main Finale folder).

There is no need to uninstall Finale before doing an install to recover the help files--if that's what you are planning to do
