I made a Part called WOODS comprised of all the woodwind instrument staves of a full orchestral score. They are all named appropriately in the score.

However when I go to Document>Edit Part, the Part appears just fine with all the instrument staves but the names for them which appear in the
full score are missing.

Where did they go ? What is wrong and how do I fix ?

Sorry for the duplicate post. I didn't think I'd sent the previous one in. Still no clue how to fix.

Create a staff style to force it to show. You can apply it to all the staves throughout the part then the full and abbreviated names will show.

Mr. Zuill (just realized its not "Zull" as in Ghost Busters),

No luck per your suggestion.

Here's what I did:

1) Create Staff Style:
Invoke Staff Tool
Go to menu: Staff>Define Staff Styles
Selected "New", named it "Force Instrument Name Visibility in Part"
For Attributes, I checked Copyable and Display in Context Menu
Checked "Full Staff Name" box and the box between Edit and Position
Checked "Abbr. Staff name" box and the box between Edit and Position
In the Items to Display box, I checked:
Staff name in Score box and
Staff name in Parts box
Left all the other boxes blue
Clicked OK

2) Apply Staff Style to Part (that currently has no names from the Score):
Select all staves to the end of the score (also tried selecting just one stave)- entire Part and all staves turn blue to end of Part
Context clicked (e.g. right clicked) on one of the measures and a menu appears
I selected "Apply Staff Style to Current Part/Score
I selected "Force Instrument Name Visibility in Part" which was one of the choices in the menu at the bottom
I click OK

Nothing happens. No instrument names appear in the Part.

What on earth am I doing wrong ?????

Thanks for your help !

Not sure. Create a sample file, attach it here, and I'll take a look.

I think I know what happened. You checked the 2 boxes for Full Name and Abbreviated Name , but then didn't put any text there. Uncheck those boxes and it should work. It will then use the names already entered in the Score manager. Those boxes are only for using a different name.

Zuill-
That was it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Faith in humanity and Finale ... restored ! Not intuitive, at least to me.
How can we IGNORE THE TROLL when he's ever-present, spot-on, and a Jedi.
I am just now using the Forum intensely but already have picked up on your incredible skill, knowledge, and willingness to help.
Very, very much appreciated !
