When I try to create an ossia, following all the steps in the manual, the ossia measure prints the music one octave lower.
Why does this happen and how can I correct it. So far, I've had to create a "dummy measure" one octave too high to get it
to print correctly. There must be a better way.

Do the ossia source staff and the "real" staff have differing transpositions?

woodwind specialist and doubler - Finale 2014d using Speedy Entry - no capslock, GPO 4 Full, Garritan Jazz & Big Band 3, Garritan Concert and Marching Band 2, Windows 10, 12GB RAM, frequently RTFM.

If the composer says in effect to the performer: "I do not care whether you perform my music or not," we cannot argue the matter. But if he indicates: "I want you to perform and respond to this music," then his fundamental duty is to write his music so that it is accessible to interpretation. Well, of course, that is the problem. I never even thought of that. Now, I just have to figure out how to make both parts agree when I'm working with transposing instruments. Writing everything in concert pitch before transposing won't do the trick; or will it?

In Finale, looking at a score in concert pitch or in transposed pitch makes no difference--it is just a way of looking at things.

Finale 25

Using a separate staff with cutaway staff style and perhaps a reduction in size can give you a lot more flexibility than the Ossia Tool.
