Hey!

Im thinking of buying Finale 2004 but I've heard that it is really slow. Many macusers are changing to sibelius cause of this... What is your opinion about this and how is the pc version (that I might buy)?

F2K4 takes longer to open, but after that it seems to run OK for me.

It seems that some people are having speed problems, but not everyone. I don't know why.

I think it depends on your processor speed. Some things (including Speedy Entry, Expression List scrolling) were really slow on my old PIII 500 even though I had plenty of RAM. No speed problems at all on my new P4 3.0 Ghz.

No problems whatsoever. It is fast and stable.
Admitedly, it was a bit slow on some functions when I was using a 450MHz processor, but now that I've upgraded to a P4 2.6, and 2 Gb RAM, it flies!

Contemporary operating systems like Windows XP & Mac OS X are pretty hungry in terms of the computing power needed to run them smoothly. This, combined with complex, ever-more feature-laden software like Finale, can make a few-years old system feel pretty much like molassses.

Indeed the start up is a second slower than 2003 but in rest it's normall in speed on Athlon2100+, 1GB RAM WinXP

I do have a huge slowdown editing in simple entry if I have the internet radio stream on.

The start up is almost instanteneous with a 2.6Ghz processor.

I am not surprised things slow down if you have the internet radio stream on, especially in a program that uses the sound drivers.

Why don't you just download the demo version and see for yourself how it runs on your system?
