Can anyone tell me what happened to Speedy
Change not value? Up till now all you had to do was
to place the cursor on the note you want to change
and enter the new note value, and that's what the
on-line manual still says.
Now I suddenly find (MacFin 2002b, Mac OS 9.1)
that it inserts a new note. That can be very
inconvenient, for example with tuplets or whole
chords, and in any case there is another command
for inserting notes, namely with shift, and it the
Speedy keyboard commands menu it says that. So is
this a new bug, and is there any workaround?
Any help will be much appreciated.

That feature is called "insert notes or
rests" and is in the speedy menu. It can
be toggled on and of w/ command I.

In my copy of Finale 2002 the "toggle on and off" keystroke is Shift-I.

Dear Don and Peter
Thanks a lot, that was new to me. I've been using
Finale since 1989, well you never stop learning. The
command that worked for me was shift-I

I'm on finmac 2k2b. I just now went to the
speedy entry tool and the keyboard
command listed in the menu next to
"insert notes or rests" was "shift I". I went
to a different tool and back to speedy and
the command in the menu changed to
"command I".
This behavior is not 100% consistent. Is
it a bug or is it just my system? I hadn't
noticed it before because I don't use the
"insert notes or rests" feature as of yet.

I'm also on finmac 2K2b, and I can
recreate the shortcut switch consistently.
If you start a new doc, add a few notes in
speedy and check the shortcut, it should
be shift. If you switch to the staff tool,
double-click on the measure (don't
change anything, just hit OK), and switch
to the speedy tool, it will be command. If
you add an articulation, then back to
speedy, it goes back to shift.

This is a bug!
Command-I is supposed, globally (= in all tools), to invoke this command:
View menu - Scale View to - Fit in Window
Don't forget to report the bug to
