I have yet to figure this out and no one so far has had any easy way to do this.

I am transcribing a big band arrangement (5-4-4-4). I am writing it as a transposed score. In one section, the band is singing a vocal background that necessitates putting this section in concert pitch, treble clef. If I do this in the section, it changes the entire chart to concert pitch, treble clef. The only way to get around this will be to write it out on the score transposed (i.e. transposed eb alto sax, for example) and then changing each part when I extract parts from the score.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get around this problem?

It's easy to apply the necessary staff styles manually.

Since you are posting this in the Finalescript forum, I suppose that you are asking for a way to do so via Finalescript, rather than manually?

Hi Peter,

Yes, that's correct. The score should reflect the extracted parts without the additional work of having to go in and re-transpose the vocal passge on every part. If you  (or anyone else) knows how to do this and can tell me step-by-step I would be very grateful.

Thanks,

Cary R.

Cary,

I could be wrong here, but I think that you have posted your question in the wrong forum.
This is the Finalescript Plug-in forum.
It sounds like you are asking for step-by-step instructions for a solution at all, rather than a solution with Finalescript.

So here we go:

1. Create a staff style that sets the staff transposition to "Key Signature, None", and "Set to Clef:" Treble Clef.
You could call your staff style "In Concert Pitch, Treble Clef".

2. Apply your staff style "In Concert Pitch, Treble Clef" to the region that should be sung.

Now only that region (not the entire chart) will display in Concert Pitch.
