Hi!
I'm totally new on FS. Anyone out there who could help me composing a script entering the following text box AND position it for me:

"Description text" at the bottom of the score to the right, size 9, Position: 2cm from the right page edge and 0,7cm up from the bottom edge. (My Finale is set to work in cm)

Here is what I do manually:

Text tool > Double click somewhere in the score >
text menu: size 9 > insert > description >

Edit frame attributes:
Attach to: All pages
Horizontal: Right, V: -2
Vertical: Bottom footer, H: 0,7
Position from: Page edge
Uncheck: Position from edge of frame

Second question: Is it possible to add several different text boxes (different sizes and positions), with the same script? Or do I have to create one script for each text box?

If I want to copy these inserts to all open documents - how do I do that?

Last question: How do I set up a short command for the script so that I don't have to use the editor window and play button? Anything I've tried so far won't work.

//Inserting description and positioning
process all open documents
text tool
double click
menu item "Text/Size/9"
menu item "Text/Inserts/Description"
menu item "Frame Attributes"
dropdown "All pages" near "Attach To"
Dropdown "Right" next "Horizontal"
Dropdown "Bottom(Footer)" next "Vertical"
Dropdown "Page Edge" next "Position From"
type -2 next "Horizontal"
type 0.7 next "Vertical"
click "OK"

I gave you above the script to insert the description. You can add to this script as many comands as you like, and not only related to text inserts.

For the rest of the questions, and the one I answered, you should read the help files and learn to use Finalescript. Lucky for you I had a similar script and just adapted it for you.

Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge! I'm working on the classic cul de sac; changing names, sizes and positions on 270 different pages, all cut away from the mother score. Puh...

I can't get your script to work in my Finale 2008, but that's no surprise to me. 2008 moves in mysterious ways on my fairly new iMac. But I tried to run the script in the demo 2011, and it worked better. Though it did not enter the right numbers, -2 and 0,7. It set both to 0. Something missing?

If I want to enter a non-file info based text box, what do I enter instead of "Text/Inserts/Description"? I've seen samples of people (you?) writing one letter per staff to get a whole word, but isn't that a bit overkill?

Text tool
enter "T"
enter "i"
enter "t"
enter "l"
enter "e"

instead of

Text tool
enter "Title"
