I've noticed sometimes the accidentals in key changes could use a bit of horizontal tweaking (see attached), but there doesn't seem to be any immediate way to do this. Is there a way to make them look nicer? They're not horrible; I'd just like to move a few of them ... if I can.

Would you prefer more horizontal distance between the accidentals?

If you de-select “Cancel Outgoing Key Signature” (in Document Options - Key Signatures), then you will get rid of all those naturals, and save some horizontal space.

After you have saved some horizontal space, you could increase the general distance between key signature accidentals.

Hi Peter,

It's not the overall distance that bothers me, it's the fact that some accidentals are bunched together and others have unnecessary space in there.

I like the "cancelled outgoing key signature" so I'm not going to change that.

I'm starting to feel like I'm not going to be able to get what I want.

Have you looked in Document Options->Key Signatures?
There are options for Space between accidentals and space after cancelled key

You could try making the key signature accidentals 23 point, rather than the usual 24 point. Combine that with a hair more space between the key accidentals (1 or 2 evpu).

Thanks Daz and N. I'll play around with the settings a bit more and see what comes up. I don't know why MM just can't group them together in a more balanced way, though. I mean, the default's not bad, but it could be slightly better....

I think if you drew lines through the centers you would see that they're evenly spaced, but I agree with you they could perhaps be "kerned."
