Besides the clever concept of separate write and engrave modes, I like how the program looks at events. In write mode, a note and all that belongs to it is a single event, even if it's tied over to another measure. And, according to the blogs, Dorico is very clever with its spacing algorithms... It would be painful for me to switch programs, but I'm glad this program is there as a safety net. Presumably it will read MusicXML files. I hear you. I think there;s little point in considering it if Dorico can't import MusicXML Mike Halloran

This usually signifies that their capital is either running out, or the capital provider is pushing them to release it, even if it's not finished.
Maybe I'll check it out after they actually finish it, but until then I have no interest in paying to beta test. woodwind specialist and doubler - Finale 2014d using Speedy Entry - no capslock, GPO 4 Full, Garritan Jazz & Big Band 3, Garritan Concert and Marching Band 2, Windows 10, 12GB RAM, frequently RTFM.
If the composer says in effect to the performer: "I do not care whether you perform my music or not," we cannot argue the matter. But if he indicates: "I want you to perform and respond to this music," then his fundamental duty is to write his music so that it is accessible to interpretation. When the performer cannot approach the composer's meaning because of capriciously obscure notation, he may in effect say to the composer: "Why should I bother to puzzle out your music?" - Gardner Read

Apple upgrades are not compulsory, at least not right away. Of course, if you're a true believer, you're gonna want to be the first on your block. My OS is 3 years old. Of course, I'm only using Finale 2011 and 2012. But 2014.5 runs without a hitch.

I'am though peeved at the way Avid is running (ruining) Sibelius and it's development team(s), and structuring ownership and use of its product lines.
