Hello All,

Been away for a while.

I just upgraded my laptop to a new 15" MacBook Pro. Going through the usual growing pains. I had to download legacy Java 6 runtime for OS X 10.11 El Capitan to get Finale 2011 to run. So now I can launch Finale. As soon as I open an existing file, or try to set up a new document in Setup Wizard, I get the message "Unhanded Exception Caught" and Finale quits. I'm at a standstill.

Any advice will be appreciated.

Thanks

Try trashng your preferences. Beyond that, I have nothng to suggest, except that 2011 might not be the best fit for OS 10.11.

By "trashing" your preferences, it is understood (prudent) that you save your original file first so you can go back if needed.  Just rename the file and restart Finale.  A new default preferences will be created.

Yes, 2011 may not work well on El Capitan. Certainly, there are known issues with Human Playback that cause crashing.

Send the entire crash message to MakeMusic via their support pages and see what their response is.

Thanks everybody.

Guess I'm getting nickeled and dimed once more.

Wiggy,

Copy and paste the crash report to a .pdf or something? Then send? I'm a little rusty on new communicatory skills.

Thanks again.

Copy it to a text file, or make a PDF. Anything where the text is readable and searchable.

Amma,
What OS are you runnng? If you've moved to El Capitan, you pretty much have to upgrade to 2014.5.
