We purchased the Medieval plug-in for Finale when we were running Finale 2006 and it worked fine. However since moving to Finale 2008 we are unable to use it. We have tried reloading with no success. It appears to be installed in the correct folder but when you launch Finale there is no Medieval tool in the plug-in menu. Any suggestions. | Back to Top

Mediaeval is a third-party plug-in, so I don't know if it could be affected in the same way, but it's worth checking. When you look at the plug-in in the Finder, does it appear as a plug-in, or does it appear to be a navigable folder with contents? If you right-click on the plug-in, is there an option to "Show Package contents"? If the plug-in has been installed correctly, then the plug-in should NOT appear as a folder, and you SHOULD see "Show Package Contents" in the contextual menu.
The solution, if needed, is to use a Utility such as FileBuddy to set the bundle bit (otherwise known as the package flag). If you have the Apple Developer Tools (Xcode) installed, you can use SetFile from the Terminal to achieve the same result.
If this is not the problem, you could check that the read-write permissions and ownership of the Mediaeval plug-in matches that of the other plug-ins.
Failing that, you may need to ask Robert Piechaud, the creator of Mediaeval. Finale 2009b, 2Ghz iMac, OS X 10.5.5, M-Audio Audiophile USB Ancient Groove Music www.ancientgroove.co.uk | Back to Top

I also contacted Klemm and they suggested opening Finale in Rosetta and that seems to work. | Back to Top | | Forum Information | Currently it is Tuesday, December 19, 2023 8:15 PM (GMT -6) There are a total of 403,820 posts in 58,165 threads.
