This whole thing is sad, and smacks of ageism. My bet is that the average age for those of us here (I'm 62) is somewhat higher than the average age at Finale. I've learned to my everlasting annoyance that there is scant regard for history anymore, and (with due regard for the exceptions out there) it seems to be a "Me Generation" thing. People whose current age is no more than 50 seem not to care a whit about the past and worry instead that only the latest and greatest is truly important.
Trouble is, this isn't new. 25 years back, a Crown Corp headed by a bunch of hired young MBA's instead of career public servants was handed a government operation that was more than a century old. Within a year, all but the legal minimum of historic records and archives had been shredded, including valuable wartime vintage microfilm records and historic information. The stated reason was "space", but when you dug into things, it really turned out to be a mandate to look forward, not backward, whichsame came directly from the guy who was in charge. He was 46, and left the corporation about 18 months later. Too late, all that valuable record was gone. And because there was really only one copy of each, there was no backup to pull info from if needed. As a result, some claims died, some ended up in court, and even some laws had to be re-written. All because of "look forward, not backward".
Then there is the whole Facebook/ownership/copyright thing, which I don't believe has been solved yet. Has it? K M Frye

One need only set all of the privacy settings to maximum. if you have no friends or family to keep up with on FB, then just put everything as private, only you will see it and those in any groups you post to. They won't be able to repost your things.
that said, a Facebook page for Finale users is sort of pointless since, as others have noted, you can't attach files.
As for the new MakeMusic forum, I posted a question there a few months ago. It took a week to get any sort of response, and that was from a MM employee. And the employee's suggestions for remedying the situation about which I was asking was totally wrong. It's as if they hire people who don't know how to use Finale. Zuill would probably have found it in 2 seconds flat. As it turns out, I figured out the issue on my own within a day or so.
I really hate the new forum, its look, and how it works. I won't be migrating there. I will have to find some other resource for Finale information. Finale (started with ver. 3.0) using 2012 (2014 has been shelved for its lack of support for older Garritan libraries), putting Finale 25 through its paces. Windows 8.1 basically ALL Garritan libraries, plus XSample Chamber Ensemble.

One of MakeMusic's strongest assets has been this forum. With it, people frustrated with a complex and, at times arcane, product can get help, often within a few minutes, from people who love Finale and know its ins and outs, sometimes better than MM's support staff do. Without this forum, MM will be just another company with a complicated toy on the market that many people will give up on after running into walls and having no almost-instant help to navigate. I know I would not have persisted some 15 years ago if it weren't for some of the amazingly generous folks here.
Have they not learned from their experience of the last several months of having the new forum available that the older experienced users here are not going to migrate and that people have posted questions there that have been ignored for days? If they move forward they will be replacing a treasure trove with junk. Finale 25.1

Seems like a good Forum site to me, so far not very active, but if everybody from the old, soon to be dead, forum started using it that would change. I've had no problems signing in, only limitation is that attachments have to be zipped with a maximum size of 100kb. It's quite well organized in terms of categories and it appears to be run by two very competent moderators, who've both been very helpful and knowledgeable on the Forum here (Peter Thomsen and what seems to be Mike Rosen). Facebook isn't an acceptable solution for many, I think (and certainly not for me). The Steinberg Forum is very good and, as it was pointed out somewhere in this or some other thread, there are ways to simply migrate the whole old Forum to a new site. This Zendek site is laughable, totally useless and, as on can see, basically ignored.
