When removing redundant notes from say the last half (beats 3 & 4) of a bar how do you shift the balance of the piece, beats 1 & 2 in the next bar, to replace the ones you erased. In other words, I have found several ways to rebar when there are too many beats in the bar. How do you rebar when you have too few after erasing rests and need to merge a partial bar with he rest of the piece? I'm looking for a rebar command.

This may not be the most elegant way to do it, but it works.

Make certain Fill With Rests is not checked in the Simple Entry drop down list.

Then ---

Mass Mover
Change
Note Durations
Check Change Selected Note Durations
(Make both From and Two the same value, ie both quarter notes)
Check Rebar Measures
OK

What you have done is fooled Finale into thinking you have changed a note value.

In speedy entry, I put four extra notes in front of the ones left, then when I leave the measure, click "Keep moving extra notes until end .." and then delete the measure with the four extra notes.

Good Juan! That's easier than the way I have been doing it.

I called technical support. Thank you first for your replies. I would like to share the procedure. Finale and Allegro have a feature in Mass Mover called rebar. After highlighting the bars that you want to condense use Mass Mover->Rebar. In Print Music which I use, I was instructed to choose Time Signature, Highlight the bars, double click on it and then close it using the same signature and making sure "bar x thru y" is checked. Turning fill with rests off also seems to help. PB
