I have tried about everything I can imagine and can't get the only item in the list to highlight, thus, cannot get the script to make the necessary change. What command gets an item in a list to be selected when nothing is selected in the first place? I can manually click the item, or click near the item and then hit the first key of the number (in this case 8 selects the number 83) to get the item to be selected, but not with Finalescript.

Have you tried "Select <item>" or "Highlight <item>"?

Yep. Nothing seems to work. It seems you can select items in a list where an item is already selected, but not where one isn't.

I've got the script for putting Rhythmic Cues over Slash Notation, which is my first step toward making cues easier for drum staves, almost finished. The script ends at opening the Transpose Percussion Notes dialogue box. At that point, I manually select the item Rhythm Cues. It would be better if this last step could be automated. For now, I will finish up the process by hand. Hopefully, I can figure a way to make this last item programmed.

Have you tried working in the "list" command if there are several items that appear in your transpose percussion notes dialogue box? The "list" command was the only element that made my reset background script work. In this case, and maybe yours, "list" is a necessary step to get to "select."

I've tried over 20 or 30 possibilities. There is a warning that not all lists can be accessed. Maybe this is one of them. It is not listed specifically. This is the only part of the script that doesn't work.

Okay. Now I've got a script that does everything I want (up to the Transpose percussion Notes, that is), except it goes so fast that it sometimes skips steps. How do I slow things down to allow all the steps to be done?

Add some pauses?

I was adding pauses, but it was still inconsistently leaving out things (different each time). If it was always behaving the same, it would have been easier. I do have a couple of pauses that solved things, but one was stubborn. By the way, I use Wait for 2 seconds, or Wait for 3 seconds. I didn't see this in the documentation, but I guessed and it works. I was able to finish the script but still need 1 manual mouse click. I put in a 3 second wait for that. I also couldn't access a dropdown list in that Transpose Percussion Notes box, but after reading the documentation, I solved my problem with down Arrow 10 times, etc. This Finalescript can be a beast.

Anyway, I had to use a workaround. Part of my script calls for creating a Staff Style. When creating a new one, it was incoctently not choosing the dropdown item New Staff Style that was just created by clicking the New button. So, I tested selecting other preexisting scripts (I actually did the shorthand of "01. %" and it worked. So, what solved my problem was to first select that item, then select the New Staff Style item. A bit of a workaround, but it cured the skipping trouble. I actually ended up getting to the end of the script even with the problem, but the new style was called New Staff Style, instead of the name I chose. The script still chose it, even though I asked to choose the name I was creating. I still don't understand why.

Anywho, problem solved. I still have the one manual mouse click, but I will have to live with that unless anyone can tell me how to activate a selection in the window in the Transpose Percussion Notes box.

This Finalescript can be a beast.

Definitely my experience also.
Glad something is at least partially working for you.
I wish Finalescript could be cleaned up and documented. What a useful tool it could be!

You can try the script. Just have a file that uses the drum staff using the Drum Set percussion layout from the default file (Maestro). Copy notes from a regular notation staff. Transposition of that staff doesn't matter. Near the end of the script, you need to manually select (mouse click) the only item in the Transpose Percussion Window. I only gave 1 second in the script, so click fast.
