LOL), Finale decides NOT to allow me to save. I get the first of the two attached messages (finale error.jpg) and when I click that message away, the next one, Finale Error 2.jpg is lurking behind it.
So, my piece is sitting on my desktop. I don't want to close it, in case I discover a way around this. The most recent bakx file was from yesterday morning... all of the work I'm afraid of losing was done today.
Has anyone seen this error and have a suggestion? Any MakeMusic gurus tuning in here who might have an idea? Bill

Then save that one. Finale 2014d, GPO 4, JABB 3, Garritan Steinway Basic, Garritan World Instruments Windows 7, 64 bit Intel Core 2 Quad, 8GB RAM | Back to Top | |

I know that this is the first thing I should think of , but it never seems as straightforward as it sounds: just copy the document, paste into a new one, and save. It's really, open a new document, add staves as needed for the document you will copy from, fix the number of measures per system, set the page size reduction percentage... stuff which is not included in the edit filter. If you don't do that first before pasting in the document, it will look so messy that it will be even harder to make those adjustments.
As I say, it worked well for me this time; all those formatting things took a while, but not as long as re-entering notes and lyrics. I'd still like to know what causes these errors. This has happened to me before, fortunately in pieces that were not hard to recreate. And I thought it was an anomaly, till it happened again, and then (today) again.
Pretty frustrating. I can't believe I would be the only user to have experienced this.
But again, thanks for giving me a push and saying, essentially, "Stop whining and do something about it!!" Bill
