I'm not a plug-in developer, just a user with a short wish list.
 
I lead a contemporary worship band, and we work mainly from lead-sheets ... most of those I produce with Finale.  I like to have the actual notes I want the vocalists singing (why we don't use word and chord sheets) along with some rhythm-chart type indications for intros and interludes.  It helps to have everyone reading from the same version of the same score.  It keeps the confusion to a minimum.
 
Usually we're in guitar-friendly keys, but there are a few writers whose work we use who like things in Bb with the guitar at capo 3 so that the chords are voiced in the shape of G.  I don't have a problem reading in Bb and playing in G, but we've got some young guitarists we are trying to develop who don't transpose at sight.  Right now I just scribble the transposed chords on their copy ... but they might not get the same copy next time we do it.
 
Here's what I would like to be able to do:
 
1.  Lead sheet with full vocal parts (can do already)
2.  Chords at concert pitch for keyboards and bass (can do already)
3.  Chords for capo'd guitar in parentheses or some other way so that keys and bass don't read wrong chord.
 
I have read some solutions in the forums, but haven't succeeded in getting any to work for me yet.  Has anyone thought about developing a plug-in that would do that automatically?  Just highlight the measures, select the capo position, and the plug-in does the rest.

This isn't a plug-in, but you could create a new staff with the correct transposition without too much work.  You would simply have to:

  1. Enter Concert pitch chords (for bass, piano, ect.)
  2. Create a new staff with correct transposition, or change an existing one
  3. "Highlight" those chords you want transposed for the capo
  4. Either copy (Ctrl + C) and paste (Ctrl + V), or drag the highlighted chords where you want

If you set up the Capo staff with correct transposition, the chords will automatically change for you (as shown in the file below).

Yeah, I see what you did, and I can do that.  What I need is all three of the below:

1) lead sheet (can do)

2) concert pitch chords (can do)

3) capo'd chords in parentheses and/or italics (can't do with #2)

All on same lead sheet.
