I'm using Finale 2004. I'm a novice with Finale, and not sure if I'm doing this totally correctly.
I input a version of John Denver's "The Flower that Shattered the Stone" (piano part only) and Playback will only read one stave, not both. However, if I delete at least half of the full part (of both staves) it will play it correctly. What am I doing wrong? Is it just my computer (Sony Vaio, 1Ghz AMD, 256mb RAM, 20gb HD w/ 4gb free)? I'll be happy to e-mail anyone the file to check it out.
TIA,
Alan

As an aside, I have found that no matter what I can't play this piece back without limiting it to one stave (either piano treble or piano base) - but it won't play back with both staves (treble and base).
TIA,
Alan

I have found that I cannot playback more than 16 tracks at a time, but that may be a limitation of my sound card, not finale.
It should be able to play back two staves.
Be careful how you assign the staves in your instrument list. But even if you assign them to the same channel, it should play back. But you might try assigning each clef to a different channel, but assign both channels to piano. See if that works.

Just a thought, but perhaps you've selected the "one-armed piano player" plug-in??? Try unchecking that option in the drop down menu and give it another whirl.....

David,
Finale can actually play back 64 channels.

True, but not if your system doesn't support more than 16.

I thought that it could playback more than 16 channels, it must be the system that stops me after 16. That's okay for now.
