Is there any trick for making instrument transpose other work?

For example, I want to batch transpose a half step down. But...

<<instrument transpose other -1 -7>>

and many other variants don't work. In fact, I always get a weird D# major key signature with all treble clefs and more than an octave of transposition.

Thanks.

Unless I'm mistaken, the "transpose" script keyword is analgous to "key", so I think you are specifying a key change rather than an actual transposition. That would be a good thing to email tech support a feature request about, so that the two are seperated.

After fooling around for a bit with it, I think here's what's happening:

When you type "instrument," it chooses the staff tool. Then, you're changing the transposition of that instrument, rather than transposing the notes. That would be why it's changing the key signature.

So, it seems the mass edit transpose function isn't what's being called.

To do that, in Finale 2005 you can type

mass edit
select all [or whatever you need to select]
menu item "transpose"

and it will bring up the dialog box. It think that's the only way Finalescript will do it for you.

Dennis, This command was broken in 2k4. This has been fixed in 2k5a. If you simply want to do a mass mover transposition, you should try what Dan posted.
