I am editing an orchestral score with double wind. I have the linked parts set so that 1° always displays Layer 1 and 2° level 2 in the case of multiple layers. Thus when the instruments are in unison in the score there is only level 1. In some bars however there are unison notes and non-unison notes. So long as there are no accidentals this is not a problem. But in a case as in the attached jpg, although the manual tells me: "In the score, press CTRL while editing an item. The edit is applied to the score only and the item is unlinked in all parts." this does not apply to accidentals. Anyone know how to hide an accidental in the score and still have it showing in the part?

If you turn on "Use Cross-Layer Accidental Positioning" in Document Options > Accidentals, then the "double" accidentals will merge on top of each other.

Hallo Wiggy, so glad you are still helping after all these years. I remembered this working before, but I didn't create the file and now realise that the beginner I am helping had for some reason only known to himself forced all doubled accidentals to appear. Either that or he doesn't have "Use Cross-Layer Accidental Positioning" switched on and although I have it switched on, it only functions when I reenter the doubled bars.... 10 years ago I vowed I'd never again work on anyone's files but my own....But of course too often I just can't say no!
