Hi all -

Sometimes the last two or three staves end up smaller than everything else. I don't know what causes it, so I can't reliably reproduce it. I also haven't figured out an easy way to fix it. Sometimes I can insert measures before and re-enter the music, then delete the small staves. But that's a pain and doesn't always work. I can kinda use the staff resize tool, but I don't know exactly what percent to use.

Any thoughts? Anyone else have this issue? Since it doesn't always happen, I don't know what else to say re: what I'm doing or not doing.

I'm on Windows, Finale 2011b, but this happened with at least the previous version I owned (2009) and with my old computer.

I'm hoping the attached pic will show up, otherwise I'll be back in a bit to try another.

Lori

This has occasionally happened to me using PrintMusic, but closing PM and then reopening the file remedied that issue.

Now that I can see your file attachment, this is normal. Finale/PrintMusic will resize the final measures to fit the full width of the printable area of the page.

I just tried going out/in, and it's still small :( Oh, and the picture is correct now - uploaded the wrong one the first time. While I managed to do the insert/delete measures trick on the piece in the picture, it's now happening on the current piece I'm working on.

The width, yes, but the entire last staff seems to be about 90% in height/note size/etc. That's the part that's bothering me.

This is easy to fix using the resizre tool What caused it is one thing. How to fix it will be a different instruction.

This system is mis-sized. In the Resize Tool, right click on thje first system of the piece. Choose Resize System. Set it to Systems 1 through end of piece. Then OK.

If that doesn't fix it, then report back.

It looks to me as though you have a different system reduction for the last stave. Page Layout>Resize Staff System (that's with F 2010, it may be slightly different in 2011, but the same principle will apply).

EDIT: Or simpler probably, do as Zuill says

Aha! Yay! I knew there had to be an easy solution. I don't spend a lot of time with the resize tool (and was focusing on the small staves instead of noticing that it was the previous staves that were actually too big). I got Zuill's suggestion to work, but didn't have any luck going through Page Layout. Apparently all but the last couple staves were at 116%. I still don't know why it does that, as it's happened in a few different situations.

But at this point I don't care why since I have a solution. Thanks for everyone's quick help!

I'm glad you got it fixed. I just tried the Page Layout Tool method and it worked fine. Check to make sure the settings are set correctly, if you ever want to try that method.
