I don't think I have time to figure this out myself but I thought I'd post here in case someone else feels like it.

Can you write a script that will Retranscribe the selection while preserving lyrics?

To do it manually, I have to copy everything to a dummy staff, retranscribe, then copy just the lyrics back to the original staff. I don't know how you would do this with Finalescript.

What do you want to achieve by re-transcribing the notes?

It's probably better to find an alternative method of doing whatever that is, than to go into the convoluted process above.

Yes, it can be irksome that Retranscribe removes the lyrics. But I generally only use it when I have really altered the notation and I need to set it back to a 'default'.
