I just received a file from a composer where in many measures he has two identical articulations attached to the same note, super-imposed on each other. I'm removing the duplicates manually, but it's easy to miss some.

Does anyone know of a plugin that will remove these duplicates? (It's the same articulation from the palette, applied twice)

"Document -> Data Check -> File Maintenance" claims to delete duplicate text and shape expressions, and articulations.

But alas, it leaves one behind, and does not delete different instances of the same expression/articulation.

Looks like errors caused by the Implode utility. If it's a score, you can copy regular single articulations from another similar stave and they'll overwrite the double-upped ones. I don't know of any plugin that can handle these situations.

I often find these after I start working on extracted parts, which makes for a lot of frustration.

Exactly. The score's done, working on parts now. When working on the score, the duplicate's weren't as obvious due to the reduced size. But when viewing the part, they jump right out at you. And since these are extracted not linked, it's twice as much work to find them.

Thanks

I bet a fairly "simple" JWLua script could do this. (I quote "simple" because the learning curve for JW Lua itself is steep.)

Indeed Motet.  I've tried several things dealing with adding/removing/sorting/removing duplicate/etc items in the expressions/articulations area, all with limited to no success.  The underlying constructs in the PDK concerning this subject are certainly not intuitive.  But give it a try.

I think rather than removing duplicate definitions, which as you point out File Maintenance is supposed to do anyway, the solution here is to look at the articulations on each note entry and remove duplicate assignments. I am unlikely to tackle this myself.
