So i just downloaded Notepad and started to enter notes and the rest of the measure was filled with rests. So i figured out how to turn off auto fill for rest. What i don't understand is how to enter a rest. I see notes, key sigs, etc, etc, but no rest.

In Finale, after you enter a note, you press R and it turns into a rest. That could be one way in Notepad (I realy don't know the features, but am taking a stab at it).

And the shortcut for entering rests in NotePad is to press the 0 key on the number pad.

Windows XP, all updates
