I have a problem with Print music!2001 (for Windows). I would like to transcribe chant using noteheads only (and without key or time signatures). Can this be done? Also, I'd like to know how to notate a piece of polyphony, indicating the original clefs and first ligature at the beginning of the first stave (followed, of course, by everything as normal...). Finally, does anyone know if St Meinrad chant font works well with Print music?

Any help would really be appreciated!

Gerard:

I don't know if you can do this in PrintMusic, but in Finale, you would use the Staff Tool to specify that key and time signatures (and maybe bar lines?) are not shown, and you'd use the Custom Stem tool in the Special Tools palette to create "invisible" stems for the notes.

Another way to do the headless note thing (again, this is in Finale) is to enter all of your time signatures with 1 as the denominator: 3/1, 4/1, etc. Then enter all of your music as whole notes, select the Mass Mover tool, hit ctrl-A, go to Mass Mover> Change> Note heads, and select the quarter note head (#207 in Maestro). This will do it all at once and in my experience is definitely faster than changing all the stems (which you can't do globally, for whatever reason).

Hope this helps at all..

Cheers.

Gary
