| Posted 10/31/2006 6:11 AM (GMT -6) |   | | Is it just my imagination, or does anyone else get the impression that Fibonacci spacing in F2007 is 'tighter' than in previous versions (or rather, that is to say, in F2005 or before - I skipped 2006, so it might have changed then)?
I can't be certain, and I don't have 2005 installed anymore to compare, but it just seems to me that the spacing is less 'open' than I remember.
If this is so, and it really has changed, is there a way to reset F2007 to the earlier version? Presumably I can go look for the spacing library on the 2005 installation disc and copy it across, (unless there are compatibility issues ... ?) in which case does anyone know what it's called?

2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 have exactly the same spacing in my files.
One tip about spacing:
If you want to squeeze many notes into one system, then lock the system, and increase the Reference Width.
When you Apply Music Spacing, the music will run off the page, but when you Update Layout, the music will go inside the margins.
Try for yourself with the attached file.
This example was discussed in an earlier thread.
Personally I think that the best spacing of this particular example appears, when you increase the Reference Width to 30 Points.

Fibonacci Spacing uses "the golden ratio" as scaling factor.
In the attached file I wanted a tighter spacing, so I used the square root of 2 as scaling factor.

Like I said, I wasn't sure, but it just seemed a bit tight. I'll have to play around with some of the settings.

Michael Cook said...... the thing to look at is: are the values in your 2007 default file different from those in a file you made in 2005? If they are the same, you should be getting the same spacing. If they are not the same, you can change them to match the values in the older file.
I can't ever recall having changed any settings in spacing values - way too complicated for me!
Still, worth a check.
