Today I’m pleased to announce that the new Finale is now available, both as a download and a USB drive. As I’ve hinted at over the last few months, some of the highlights of the new release include 64-bit support, additional Garritan sounds, transposed instrument entry, ReWire support, significant streamlining, and more.
We have also updated finalemusic.com. If you currently own Finale, please check out the what's new page to see what this upgrade offers you. If you want to give it a spin, the Free 30-Day Trial is ready to go. The upgrade price is still just $149. Or, if you are using another pro-level notation product and want to own Finale too, our competitive upgrade is just $149 as well. Mark F. The error is obviously streamlined enough, then. ;) woodwind specialist and doubler - Finale 2014d using Speedy Entry - no capslock, GPO 4 Full, Garritan Jazz & Big Band 3, Garritan Concert and Marching Band 2, Windows 10, 12GB RAM, frequently RTFM.
If the composer says in effect to the performer: "I do not care whether you perform my music or not," we cannot argue the matter. But if he indicates: "I want you to perform and respond to this music," then his fundamental duty is to write his music so that it is accessible to interpretation. When the performer cannot approach the composer's meaning because of capriciously obscure notation, he may in effect say to the composer: "Why should I bother to puzzle out your music?" - Gardner Read

Would ReWire be useful to you? Do you need dashed slurs? Is the improved performance and 64-bitness of interest? Are any of the many bug fixes a source of relief? Do you work with large time signatures? Are the extra Garritan sounds useful? Does correct playback of transposing instruments fill you with joy? You can of course download the demo and test it, to see whether anything excites you to a value of $149.
Exactly! I should have downloaded the trial version first, but (out of habit, I suppose, having always faithfully upgraded for some 15-20 years now...) I had downloaded Finale v25. This version, however, does unfortunately nothing to improve my playback needs, workflow or creation of scores and parts (everything I need to do I can do perfectly well in 2014.5, even in 2012). After playing around with it for a few hours (of course with all my shortcuts, scripts and adjustments not in place anymore) I uninstalled, asked for (and got) my money back. Try it out first!
